Jagadguruttam Diwas & Makar Sankranti Celebrations at RKT

jagadguruttam Diwas

The Year 2017 is going to be a year of celebrations for everyone at the Radha Krishna Temple! We started the year with our grand New Year’s Day satsang, singing the praises of the Almighty! Just two weeks into the New Year, devotees of the Radha Krishna Temple community witnessed the second grand celebration of the year. Pongal/Sankranti was celebrated on 14 January 2017. What made the day even more special was it was also Jagadguruttam Diwas!

It was on this day, 60 years ago that His Holiness, Jagadguruttam Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, the very embodiment of the grace of Shree Radha Krishna, was conferred the title of Jagadguru at Varanasi, India. It was on this day that Maharajji – as he is lovingly addressed by devotees – amazed scholars and pundits, at a very young age of 35. Looking at his mastery over the scriptures and the depth of his experience of the divine love of Shree Radha Krishna, he was conferred with the title of Jagadguruttam, which means that he is not only Jagadguru, but also superior among all the Jagadgurus. Shree Maharajji has graced us with wonderful kirtans full of devotion and philosophy, which we sing regularly at our satsangs.

Devotees celebrated the auspicious day by singing soulful kirtans and offering prayers of gratitude at the feet of the divine. It was a very special day for another reason, because much awaited walls of the Radha Krishna temple are finally up! The pace of construction has picked up steam and is progressing rapidly.

Radha Krishna Temple promises to be the nucleus of the community by bringing various programs for the benefit of the community. Volunteers work tirelessly and selflessly and plans are already underway for upcoming events of the year such as Maha Shivratri in February, Holi in March, Shree Ram Navami in April, International Yoga day in June, and much, much more!

They say life is not perfect, but it is exactly what you make it to be! At Radha Krishna Temple, we are determined to make life a way of celebrating various graces that are showered on us by the divine.
