Lohri is a highly popular festival, celebrated after the winter season, to welcome the longer days in Punjab. Lohri traditionally welcomes the longer days and the Sun’s journey to the northern hemisphere by the Hindus and the Sikhs situated in the northern region of the Indian subcontinent.

Pongal is a harvest festival highly popular in the southern part of India, for the Tamil community, “Pongal”, literally means “to boil”, “to overflow”, referring to a traditional dish made specially during this festival.

Makara Sankranti is a harvest festival dedicated to the Sun God.

During the Lohri festival, the traditions in which the devotees are highly involved are, dancing to the beats of the Pujabi Dhol, and participate in the traditional poojas of the festival.

The celebrations of these festivals will be held on Thursday, January 13th, 2022.

The Lohri Pooja, dance and arti will be held at 6 PM CST (5:30 AM IST) on Thursday, January 13th 2022, at the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, Allen, TX.

The devotees can actively participate in the celebrations, by joining in person at the Radha Krishna Temple.
