Radhashtami Celebration

वृषभानु लली गुन गाइये, वृषभानु लली गुन गाइये
उनकेइ जो कृपालु जन उन ते, प्रेम सुधा रस पाइये

Vrishabhanu lali guna gaiye, Vrishabhanu lali guna gaiye
Unakei jo ‘Kripalu’ jana una te, Prema sudha rasa paiye
Chant the glories of Radha Rani, the darling daughter of King Vrishbhanu
Says Shree Kripalu, "Attain the sweetest nectar of divine love from Her rasik saints."

These beautiful lyrics of a sweet kirtan composed by Jagadguru Kripalu ji Maharaj, extol the divine virtues of Radha Rani, the Mother of the Universe. In the Bhakti Shatak, Shree Maharajji said that there is no distinction between Radha and Krishna. She is the Shakti and He is the Shaktimaan.

Shree Radha Rani is the Yogmaya or Para Shakti of Shree Krishna. While all the divine forms of the Lord bow down to Shree Krishna, the Lord Himself bows down at the lotus feet of His Yogmaya Shakti. She is the soul of His soul.

Radhashtami is celebrated to honor the appearance of Radha Rani on the 8th day of Bhadrapad Shukla Paksh (i.e., waxing moon of the month of Bhadrapad) as per the Hindu calendar. This usually falls in either August or September of the Western Calendar. It was on this day that King Vrishbhanu found Her floating on a lotus leaf on the surface of a lake. He gently picked her up, took her home and he and Mother Kirti raised Her as their daughter.
