Shree Goswami Tulsidas  was a 15th century realized soul and saint, poet, often called reformer and philosopher renowned for his devotion to Lord Shree Ram. Tulsidas Maharaj wrote several popular works in Sanskrit and Awadhi, a vernacular dialect of Hindi. He is best known as the author of the epic  RamCharitMahans, a retelling of the Sanskrit Ramayan based on the life of Lord Shree Ram in Awadhi.  Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas is graciously hosting the recital of Shree RamCharitManas on the 2nd and 3rd of March.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RAMAYAN

परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्‌ । धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥

In the Bhagavad Gita 4.8, Lord Krishna declares  “For the up-liftment of the good and virtuous, For the destruction of evil, For the re-establishment of  dharma I will come, in every age”.

Out of the many avatars taken by the Lord, His avatar as Lord Shree Ram is one of the most significant! Shree Ram, the poorna avatar of Sriman Narayana, took the human form and came down to the earth  and demonstrated to mankind how to live and love. It is said that as long as the mountains stand and rivers flow, the story of Srimad Ramayana would remain eternal in all the worlds.

WHY SHOULD ONE SHOULD READ THIS EPIC?

Shree Rama did not show His divinity easily in this avatar. He was born as a human being and had all the feelings of a human being, so why is this epic celebrated so much and  translated into so many languages? We all know that understanding Vedas and Shastras is not for the common people. Not only is it difficult, but it is almost impossible for common man! This is reason the Lord has graced us with the story of Srimad Ramayana. It  is said that when Shree Ram decided to descend on the Earth, to aid Him in this avatar, the Vedas took birth as Srimad Ramayana. If one wants to know what is said in the Vedas, reading Srimad Ramayana would suffice!

AKHAND RAMAYAN PARAYAN

At the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, the bliss of the Srimad Ramayan is being made available to one and all through  Akhand (uninterruped) recitation of the epic.
