Holi

The Lord is indeed a relentless painter! Day after day, season after season, year after year, He paints our landscapes with an inimitable variety of colors.  Every minute of our lives, we have the opportunity to experience the beauty of this variety! Every sunrise, sunset, raindrop, snowflake, moon-ray, mountain, and valley sing the glory of His creativity! Although every season has its own flavor, its own beauty, and its own purpose and place in this cycle of creation, the spring season has a special significance. Shree Krishna says:

बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् |
मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकर: ||

bṛihat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chhandasām aham
māsānāṁ mārga-śhīrṣho ’ham ṛitūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ

(Bhagavad Gita 10.35)

“Amongst the hymns in the Sāma Veda know me to be the Brihatsama; amongst poetic meters, I am the Gayatri. Of the twelve months of the Hindu calendar I am Margsheersh, and of seasons I am spring, which brings forth flowers.” (For a detailed explanation of the verse, visit Bhagavad Gita)

The Lord comes to us each year as the spring season and breathes new life and beauty into everything around us! If we open our eyes and our hearts to the gorgeous colors around us, we can soak in His beauty and His majesty profoundly and permanently tinted in the color of devotion! Volunteers at the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas are already getting ready to receive the Lord and his wonderful gift of colors, this spring season with open arms. While the landscape of Texas is getting ready to take over the hue of bluebonnets and sunflowers, RKT volunteers are busy planning the festival of colors, Holi on March 26, 2017 at South Fork Ranch, Plano, TX!

We are very excited to share that this year’s Holi celebration at Radha Krishna Temple is going to be like none another in the entire DFW metropolis. Please stay tuned for more updates on the event details! If you would like to volunteer and contribute towards the amazing festivities, please reach out to [email protected] or call 323-286-0452.
