Spring is that time of the year when most of us navigate our way out of the clutter in our homes and attempt to find simplicity. External simplicity is often a natural extension of internal simplicity! Most of the time, we do not see the world the way it is, we see it the way we are and often complicate our lives with our complex minds! If we take time to decolor our looking glasses, we can begin to experience the beauty of colors around us as they are! Colors are the smiles of nature and the joy that they hold can be absorbed more easily by the simple minded! Simplicity in thoughts, words and actions is what attracts the grace of God the most.
The Gopis of Braj were the epitome of innocence and simple mindedness, which is why they experienced a divine magic of colors every day! Each day they would wait for the evening sun to withdraw its warmth, and get ready to plunge back into the horizon. That was the time of the day, when their beloved Krishna would return from the forest with all His cowherd friends and their cattle! During the beautiful “Go Dhooli Vela” , they would witness His blue complexion shimmer through the dust raised by the hooves of the cattle. The vanamala around His neck made with five different colors of flowers interspersed with fresh green Tulsi leaves would swing from side to side as He would walk under the crimson blanket spread over the evening sky! Just when darkness would begin to swell and start to jeopardize their vision of their beloved, the colorful flora on the Govardhan mountain in the background, would come to their rescue. They would reflect the last few rays of the sun and the entire mountain would light up like a pile of emeralds, rubies, sapphires and diamonds until the silver white moonlight would return to its duty! The Gopis would then color their beloved Shree Krishna with the colors of selfless love and devotion!
Let us take the inspiration from the Gopis to simplify our minds, and make room to receive the colors of devotion at Radha Krishna Temple’s unique Braj style Holi Hangama 2017 in the presence of His Holiness Shree Swami Mukundananda ji!
