rangoli

At Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, the countdown is on for Holi Hangama 2017!  The festival of Holi shares a common theme with most of the Hindu festivals in that, it signifies the triumph of good over evil. What makes Holi stand out is, it celebrates the triumph of faith over ego, the faith of the great devotee, Prahlad, over the ego of his father, the evil King HiranyaKashipu.

All our celebrations encompass various rituals, which apart from being expressions of joyfulness, are also expressions of faith and spirituality. One such ritual is Rangoli! The word Rangoli is derived from the Sanskrit word “Rangavali”, which means “arrangement of colors”. This is a wonderful form of traditional art, in which colorful patterns are created on the floor to welcome God into one’s home.

In the Holy Bhagavad Gita, Shree Krishna instructs us to perform all activities as an offering to God. While one needs to take additional effort to keep this instruction in mind while performing routine activities, traditional activities such as Rangoli, which are performed exclusively to please the Lord, allow us to practice this concept seamlessly! They carve out an effortless path for us to welcome Him, not only into our homes, but into our hearts and minds as well!

Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas aims to create an unobstructed space for you to freely express your love for God. We invite the artist in you to come out and join our – lentil Rangoli competition at Holi Hangama 2017. Allow the faith in your heart to blossom into a beautiful Rangoli this spring and create a unique offering for Shree Radha Krishna! Click here to register for Rangoli completion!
