Walls Lifted & Set In Place – Birth Of The Radha Krishna Temple
The Walls of the Radha Krishna Temple finally went up in a four (4) day time span. Two construction teams with over a dozen workers, crane operators, and foremen lifted and set thirty-three (33) wall panels.
Each wall panel weighed between 15,000 to 75,000 pounds and reached just over 36 feet in height. A 190 ton crane that had over 220,000 pounds in counterweights lifted the panels and set them in place. Considering the size and weight of the panels, the construction team kept safety as its main goal along side completing the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Workers installed braces to hold each panel in place prior to lifting. They carefully measured the exact panel locations to finally set panels with precision and accuracy. Afterwards, crews attached heavy metal bracing with bolts to the concrete slab to hold the panel securely in place.
Once workers installed all the wall panels, they welded about one hundred (100) connecting points made from steel plates and angles to connect the panels to each other and to the foundation. As soon as the crew welded the connections, they prepared to begin steel erection to create the structural skeleton of the building.
Such a beautiful temple as this will finally come to be, does not come to reality without sacrifice. We are deeply grateful to all who have contributed to helping the temple reach this important milestone. Finally we can all now behold the beginnings of a sacred space that will be a sanctuary for peace and center of enrichment for the community.
May these walls here forward forever be a Divine Abode for Beloved Shri Radha-Krishna — a place that we only wish will touch your heart.
