Guru Purnima Celebration

उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिन: ||Bhagavad Gita 4.34||
Learn the Truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him with reverence and render service unto him. Such an enlightened Saint can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the Truth.
Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima is the day to celebrate and pay our gratitude to our Gurus. The Sanskrit word Guru literally translates to ‘the one who frees us of ignorance’. This full moon day in the month of Ashada is one of the most auspicious days of the year. Guru Purnima celebration is a much-awaited day of the year. On this day, disciples worldwide who have experienced the priceless fortune of the divine grace and protection of a God-realized saint in their lives express their heartfelt gratitude, and reverence, and pay respects at the lotus feet of their Guru. On this day people also thank teachers in every field of knowledge including guides and mentors. “The Guru is the bright mask which God wears in order to come to us” - Swami Vivekananda. Join us at the Radha Krishna Temple for the grand celebration with Swamiji on July 14th to commemorate the occasion. We invite you to participate in a very special and extremely devotional 12-Hour Akhand Kirtan with Swamiji from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM CDT. Swamiji will be singing from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Devotees will have a variety of seva opportunities on this auspicious occasion. Please remember that the Guru needs nothing from us. Besides, whatever we possess is only through divine grace. All sevas are opportunities for us to purify the heart.
You may read more about the most sacred relationship between a Guru and his disciples at RKT’s Guru Purnima blog.
