08 Mar Celebrate Holi with the Divine Colors of Shree Radha Krishna
As we prepare for the upcoming Dallas Holi Fest, let us dwell on how to color our minds in the divine colors of Shree Radha Krishna. Among the various avatars that the Lord took out of His causeless mercy to grace us, His avatar as Shree Radha Krishna is the most colorful and playful! Rasik saints have described their beauty and majesty through various poems and songs. It is said that even if all the oceans in the world were to be used as ink and all the trees were to be used as pens, it would still be impossible to complete writing about their beauty! Yet saints attempt to describe their divine beauty, in order to help us visualize and meditate upon their enchanting forms.
Divine Colors of Shree Radha Krishna
While Shree Krishna is blue in complexion, Shree Radha’s complexion is yellow. Shree Krishna’s attire known as pitambar is yellow in color and matches Shree Radha’s complexion. Shree Radha’s attire, known as nilambar, is blue in color and matches Shree Krishna’s complexion. Shree Krishna wears a peacock feather in His crown and Shree Radha covers Her head with a shimmering chunari! While Krishna’s eyes, filled with mischief and bliss, glitter like the sun and moon, Radha Rani’s eyes are as cool as the moon and are filled with kindness and overflow with grace! Their lips are ruby red in color. While Shree Krishna wears beautiful and fragrant white Karnika flowers in His ears, Radha Rani wears earrings studded with exquisite gems. Shree Krishna’s blue chest is adorned by a vanamala made with five different colors of flowers interspersed with Tulsi leaves. His body is smeared with fragrant sandal wood paste! Shree Radha is draped in a sari spangled with pearls and precious gems .She wears necklaces studded with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and various others colorful gems! She adorns herself with garlands made of pink lotuses. Their divine feet which is the shelter for the entire universe is delicately pink in color.
May our Minds be Colored with the Thoughts of the Divine!
Such is their divine beauty described to us by Rasik saints. This Holi is our opportunity to forget all our differences and get ready to be colored in the color of selfless love and selfless service towards the feet of the Divine. While our bodies get colored in blue and yellow and various other colors, may our minds be colored with the thoughts of the divines forms of Shree Radha Krishna!
